 Executive verbal reports

  1. President (Sam Bryson)

Thank you for everyone coming out tonight. Your involvement in minor baseball and

softball in carman is much appreciated. I look forward to us all working together over

the next 3-4 months to bring our community another wonderful season of ball. A

special thank you to all the board members. The time and energy you all put in

continues to show in the success of our community and house league programs.

We enter another season of ball with a majority of our teams using our new fields out

at the new diamond complex. Last year I personally felt it was great to pull up to the

diamonds and see most of our active diamonds being used by teams of all age

levels. We’ve received a lot of positive feedback from visiting teams, families and

umpires about the facility we’ve built. Our board is excited about getting all the

finishing touches on the complex wrapped up this season and about the future of

hosting more balls events such as provincial and western Canadian tournaments in

the years ahead. We will continue to rely on the volunteer support of this community

to help finalize this project. Please stay tuned for details about our spring work

bee and other jobs that may need assistance over the summer.

  1. Treasurer (Aaron Nakonechny)

Been in good financial position. Received two grants from the Carman and Area

Foundation to go towards base inserts and washroom facilities at the new complex. We

had a surplus last year, so are purchasing new equipment to replace old.

See attached financial statement

  1. Registrar (Rina Dyck)

The 2024 season is shaping up to be a great one.

We have 107 players registered for baseball, including our Rally Cap and Grand

Slam kids.  We also have 55 girls registered in softball, from U9 to U15.

In Rally Cap we have 30 players on 4 teams and 25 in Rally Cap on 5 teams.

There are two 11U baseball teams, one with 9 players and one with 10.  There are

12 players in 13U, 9 in 15U and 12 in 18U.

In softball we have 16 players in U9, 16 in U11, 11 players in U13 and 11 in U15.

I have seen quite a few coach registrations come in, in the last week.  Coaches are

reminded to register in Ramp and check the website for the qualifications they

need.  Softball coaches need to have a current Criminal Record Check, which is not

required for hard ball coaches, but it might be a good idea to get it done in advance,

as it sounds like it will be required in the future.

Managers are asked to remind their teams that fees are due once ball gets started,

so please get those fees in.  Email reminders will be going out later this week.

Allan Froese motioned to have executive reports accepted as read, Jodi Cox 2 nd .

Approved.

  1. Committee member verbal reports:
  2. Fundraising (Jason Wolfe)

Fundraiser report. Fundraising for the 2024 ball season is going to be the form of

ticket sales again. Each registered ball player will be required to sell $60 dollars of

tickets. These tickets were already paid for with your registration. Tickets will be in

the hands of managers in the first week of May. They can then hand these out to

their team.

We are also planning on hosting another fair weekend social. Plans are in place to

host a social at the hall the Saturday of the fair. Volunteers will be needed from each

community team to make this an effective fundraiser.

Thanks, and have a good ball season

  1. Equipment (Tasha Worms)

Carman Minor Ball AGM Equipment report.

All equipment was returned last year with the exception of many, many missing

hardballs. Please remind all minor ball participants that if the ball goes into the tall grass

to please go and look for it. Each home game should be opening 2 brand new balls per

game. If you did not receive your game balls already please make arrangements with

me and I will get them to you. 1-204-750-1637

We have purchased base sets for the new diamonds and they will be anchored into the

ground. This will save base costs in the long run as the portable bases do not hold up

for more than a couple years and they are very costly.

Every team should be starting out with a T, bucket of wiffles, catching equipment, first

aid kit, practice balls and game balls. If you are missing any of those items in your bag

please let me know. Rally Cap and Grand Slam have balls, bats, helmets and some

catching equipment in their bags. Please ask Allan if anything is missing.

If you have special equipment requests or suggestions please let me know and we can

see if it is something that could be purchased.

The equipment position on the board is up for grabs. If anyone would like to

discuss the duties I would be happy to fill you in.

Equipment return date after the season will be decided later

Softball skills camp

The camp went well with both pitching and skills going on. The softball side raised

approximately $700 after paying the pitching coach. That will help to pay the rental fee.

A lot of younger participants was really nice to see and we hope they had fun. The older

girls were a very big help with demonstration as well as a big thank you to community

parents for helping with the clinic.

  1. Facilities (vacant)- The next major project is our big Work Bee-

Saturday, May 4 th . Rain date is May 5 th . The town is working with us

on general up-keep. We are hoping that if there are teams regularly

using a specific diamond, and can help out with some maintenance to

help keep them looking good.

  1. Skill Development (Sam Bryson)- Along with the softball skills clinic,

the boys have also run a boy’s baseball clinic. About 20 kids (11U and

13U) have been out learning new skills.

  1. Boys Rep (Patrick Crampton)- There has been a change in how

teams are rostered. Schedules should be up today. Working hard to

organize everything, so that players can attend and avoid conflicts.

  1. Girls Rep (*vacant*) - hosting a girls U15 tournament. Hosting 11U
  2. league tournament. Any changes to games/ practice times should

come through your rep. Please keep games going, unless it is a rain

delay.

  1. Rally Cap/Grand Slam(Allan Froese)- Hosted a Grand Slam

Jamboree, it was a great day and was successful. We have applied to

host that tournament again- tentatively June 15 th . All your equipment

and packages are ready to be handed out tonight.

  1. Uniforms(Lynsey Hannah) - All uniforms came back and are all

ready in bins, except Grand Slam t-shirts. They should be in by

Wednesday and we will get them out when they arrive. U11 girls t-

shirts have been delivered to managers. Every bin has lists and

contact information. The hats this year are different instead of

Cardinals and Goldeyes, they just have a C as we work towards some

changes. Carman Minor Ball store is still open. It closes on May 3 rd

with an anticipated turn-around of 2-3 weeks.

  1. Umpires(Matt Falk)- Clinics have been held in the region for both

softball and baseball. There are a few more weeks of clinics in our

area if you know anyone who wants to get involved. Please make

sure to let me know as soon as you can if you need to reschedule due

to rain. A form will be provided to all managers to track umpires/

umpire payments.

Phil Coggan has motioned to accept reports as presented. 2 nd by Jeff Wytink. Carried.

  1. New business -there has been some vandalism at the new diamonds- will have

to work with the town to figure out a security system.

  1. Adjourned at 7:26 pm
